Stefan Kazmierski

Stefan was born in Tilburg, Netherlands. His family immigrated to the United States when he was one year old. He was brought up in Cleveland, Ohio, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after graduation from high school. He attained the rank of Sergeant and was Honorably Discharged after four years of service. Stefan attended Kent State University and graduated cum laude in 2 1/2 years. In his final semester at Kent, Stefan served as a Congressional Intern to Congressman Charles Vanik. Stefan went on to graduate from Case Western Reserve School of Law, where he was Associate Editor of the Case Western Reserve Journal of International Law.
Upon graduation from law school, Stefan took a position with a large law firm in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he defended claims in employment law and complex casualty litigation. Stefan moved to Denver in 1989 and continued as a litigator. Stefan’s experience includes litigation in personal injury, contracts, property damage, products liability, maritime, unfair trade practices and agency law. Over the years, Stefan has engaged in litigation before state and federal courts at trial and appellate levels. In addition, Stefan has significant alternate dispute resolution and arbitration experience as advocate and arbitrator.
Stefan has significant trial experience. He obtained a verdict of $1.4 million for a single employee in a wrongful termination case, one of the largest wrongful discharge verdicts in Colorado. In addition, he has obtained one of the largest compensatory and punitive damage verdicts in a race harassment case, $185,000, by an employee who was still employed by his employer.
In addition to his employment law work, Stefan litigates personal injury and other general litigation matters on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. Stefan’s broad litigation experience has led to numerous trial victories and favorable settlements.

Stefan is admitted to practice in Colorado, and Louisiana (inactive); the United States District Courts for the District of Colorado, Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana; the United States Fifth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals; and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Colorado and Arapahoe Bar Associations, National Employment Lawyers Association and Plaintiffs Employment Lawyers Association. He served as co-President of the Plaintiffs Employment Lawyers Association in 1998 and 1999. He enjoys an AV rating (highest rating available) in the Martindale-Hubbell directory of lawyers.
In addition to his activities in the legal community, Stefan served on the Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Denver, Inc. from 1998 to 2002. Stefan has run three marathons and he finished the Boston Marathon in 2007.
